Tips
- Use image scanning for saved codes
When a QR code or barcode is already saved as a picture, use the app's image-scanning option rather than trying to point the camera at the same screen. This is handy for codes shared in messages or saved for later. Choose a clear image so the code is easy to identify, then review the result before taking an action.
- Turn on light and zoom
For a code in a dim place, activate the flashlight to help the camera see it. If the barcode is far away, use pinch-to-zoom to make it easier to read. These tools are intended for camera scanning; keep the code visible and steady, and check the recognized result before opening a link or using other information.
- Keep useful scans organized
Use scan history to return to codes you have already read, and add annotations when a note will help identify a product or inventory item. The app description also supports CSV export, which can help you work with scan records in a spreadsheet or save a copy to cloud storage. Check the app's available history tools after scanning.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. GoCompareNow is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of QR & Barcode Scanner changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with TeaCapps. The app's Google Play page is the authority for its listing and release information. You can open that page to check the current details and see whether Google Play offers an install for this app.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the latest build is already installed or when an update is not yet offered to that account or device. Updates can also become available in stages. Check the app's Play page again later if you are expecting an update, and use the listing as the place to confirm availability.
Can QR & Barcode Scanner read a code from a picture?
Yes. The app description says it can detect codes within picture files as well as scan directly with the camera. It lists common formats including QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, UPC, EAN, and Code 39. After a scan, review the result before opening a link, connecting to WiFi, or adding information.
