Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in File Manager that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01Bug fixes and performance improvements
The latest listed notes describe bug fixes and performance improvements, covering general maintenance intended to keep File Manager working smoothly during everyday file management.
- 02FTPS connection error fixed
The notes list a fix for an FTPS connection error. File Manager supports remote and shared storage, including FTP servers, for managing files beyond the phone's local folders.
- 03More control after pasting files
A listed earlier change added “Copy again” and “Return to source folder” after pasting, giving you useful next steps when moving files between folders.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's File Manager page.

Tips
- Browse files by their type
Use the app's Images, Audio, Videos, and Documents categories to narrow a search when you know what kind of file you need. These groupings can be easier than opening folders one by one, especially when files are spread across storage. You can also browse the main storage or an SD card directly when you know where a file is kept.
- Review what uses storage
Open Storage analysis when you want to see which files and apps take up the most room on local storage. Use the results to decide what you actually want to keep or remove, rather than deleting items just because they appear large. The app describes this area as a way to analyze storage and identify items that may be unnecessary.
- Choose your music player
If you use the built-in music player, look in the app's Settings for the player option. An earlier listed change says the music player engine became switchable there, so you can choose the available engine that suits your use. The same notes also mention a date-format setting, which may be useful if you prefer another display style.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. GoCompareNow is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of File Manager changes?
No. This is an independent editorial guide and is not affiliated with File Manager Plus. The app's Google Play page is the authority for its official description and listed changes. Check that page for the details shown for the app and build available to you, and use the developer name to identify the official listing.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the app is already current for your account or device, and updates can also be made available in stages. Check the app's Play page again later if you are expecting this build. The listing can show whether an install option is available to you; the build's availability may not be identical for every user.
Can File Manager connect to a NAS?
The app description says File Manager can manage storage on a NAS and access remote or shared storage, including FTP servers. Connection details depend on the storage service and its access requirements. If you use a NAS, check its connection information and the app's remote-storage area before trying to browse or move files.
