Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Local Weather Alerts - Widget 1.7.2 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01Experience optimization
The notes say the user experience has been optimized. The app gathers weather information on one page, including forecasts and conditions for multiple cities.
- 02Bug fix
The notes also list a bug fix. The app provides forecasts across hours and days, plus weather alerts intended to help with planning.
- 03Worth using: multiple-city weather
Worth using: view weather information for several cities at the same time, and add or remove the city weather you want to follow.

Tips
- Keep useful cities together
Use the city list to add places whose weather you want to compare, then remove locations you no longer need to follow. The app says it can show information for multiple cities at once, making this a practical way to check conditions across destinations without treating one location as the whole picture. Review the list when your travel plans change.
- Look ahead by the hour
Check the hourly forecast when timing an outing matters. The app describes weather forecasts for the next 24 hours and says rain and snow can be forecast hour by hour, so you can use that view to plan around changing conditions. Compare the forecast with the wider multi-day trend when you are planning further ahead.
- Use alerts to plan ahead
Pay attention to weather notifications for conditions such as rain, snow, lightning, haze and storms. These alerts are intended to help you plan ahead, while the forecasts and radar view can add context about changing weather. If you want alerts, look in the app's Settings for notification controls and choose options that suit your needs.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. GoCompareNow is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Local Weather Alerts changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with Vitality App Studios. The app's Google Play page is the authority for its official listing and current release information. You can compare that page with this editorial summary when deciding whether to install, and rely on Google Play for the app's published details.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the app is already current for your account, or while an update is reaching users in stages. Check the app's Google Play page again later if you expect a newer build. Availability can vary, so the store page is the place to confirm whether an install option is offered.
Can I check weather in more than one city?
Yes. The app description says you can view and manage weather information for multiple cities at the same time, adding or removing the locations you want. It also describes global weather queries for any latitude and longitude. Use the city list for places you regularly compare, and check forecasts for the location you need.
