Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in ProCCD - Digital Film Camera 5.1.1 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01Remove backgrounds with one tap
The Background Eraser now offers an optimized one-tap AI cutout. It is designed to separate a subject from its background with less manual work before you continue editing.
- 02Explore the new creator section
The Carousel adds a creator section with a variety of creative options to choose from. It gives you a place to browse ideas and select an option for a project.
- 03Find more templates and a new frame
The build adds a richer collection of templates and a rainbow film frame for SX70. These additions offer more choices when arranging or styling your images.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's ProCCD - Digital Film Camera page.

Tips
- Preview a camera effect first
Choose a camera style and use the viewfinder to preview its effect in real time before taking a picture. ProCCD describes the live view as showing the result as you frame a shot, which can help you decide whether a vintage filter, glow, or other look fits the moment. Adjust the composition before you capture it, rather than choosing a style only after the fact.
- Shape the image before capturing
For more control over a photo, explore the camera’s adjustable parameters, including ISO, exposure compensation, and color saturation. White balance and shutter speed are also described as available controls. Make changes with the scene in mind, then check the viewfinder preview to see how the effect looks. Small adjustments can help you create a more personal retro treatment without relying on a preset alone.
- Use templates to start an edit
When you want to make a collage or a more designed image, look through ProCCD’s templates and collage layouts. The new build adds templates, while the app description says layouts come in different shapes and styles. Pick an arrangement that suits the photos you have, then continue editing with available filters and frames. Templates are a useful starting point, not a requirement for every picture.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. GoCompareNow is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of ProCCD changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with cerdillac, the developer of ProCCD. The app’s Google Play page is the authority for its official listing and current change details. Check that page if you want to confirm what Google Play currently shows for the app before installing or updating.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the version available to your account is already installed. App updates can also arrive in stages, so availability may differ between users. Check the ProCCD page again later if you expect a newer build, and use Google Play as the place to install it when the update appears.
Can I edit videos in ProCCD?
Yes. ProCCD describes tools for importing and editing videos, recording with filters and light leaks, cropping to different ratios, and trimming clips. Its description also mentions HD-quality recording as an available option. Which tools you choose depends on the video and the style you want; the latest listed changes focus on cutouts, creative options, templates, and the SX70 frame.
