Start NowWhat changed this week
These are the three changes in Weather app 7.9 that stand out in the developer's update notes and on its Google Play listing this week.
- 01An ads issue gets fixed
The latest listed change fixes an ads issue. That is the clearest item tied to the newest entry, alongside the app’s broader run of maintenance changes.
- 02Bug fixes and platform maintenance
Earlier entries list bug fixes and SDK updates, including a target SDK change. These are platform and stability work rather than additions to the forecast screens.
- 03Privacy and weather display changes
The history also records a background-location privacy update and localization for addresses and weather summaries, plus earlier widget and unit options.
Our call on whether to update, and the link to the official Google Play listing, are on this issue's Weather app page.

Tips
- Add a forecast widget
Use a home-screen widget to check conditions without opening the app. The description lists multiple widget styles, including transparent options, and says widgets can show more than one place. After adding one, choose the locations and layout that make the forecast easiest to scan on your home screen.
- Compare radar map layers
Open the weather map when you want a visual view of changing conditions. The description lists radar scopes for rain or snow, temperature, pressure, wind, clouds, humidity and waves, as well as storm radar. Switch between the available layers to focus on the kind of weather information you need.
- Choose your temperature units
Set the temperature display to Celsius or Fahrenheit to match the way you read forecasts. The description says the app can use a country-based default and offers temperature conversion. Look in the app’s Settings for temperature units, then check the forecast and widgets to make sure the display suits you.
Menu names follow the developer's help pages and can differ slightly between versions and phones.
How we write the digest
Each week we check the Google Play listings of the apps our readers use most: the version number, the update date and the developer's What's new notes. When an app has a new version, we put the developer's update notes and the listing details together on one page, in plain words, with a link to the official Google Play listing. Google and most developers release updates in stages over several days, so a version listed here may not have reached your phone yet. GoCompareNow is an independent site and is not affiliated with any developer. This page doesn't read your phone or your Google account, and nothing is installed from here.
FAQ
Is this the official list of Weather app changes?
No. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with Accurate Weather Forecast & Weather Radar Map. The app’s Google Play page is the authority for its official listing and change history. Check that page for the current details before installing, since app information and availability can differ by account or region.
Why does Google Play show Open instead of Update?
Google Play may show Open when the latest version is already available to your account, or while an update is being rolled out in stages. Check the app’s Play page again later if you expected an update. You can also open the Play Store’s app management area and look at the available updates list.
Can I use forecasts without GPS?
The app description says it can detect a location through the network when GPS is unavailable, though that location may be less accurate. You can also use forecasts for cities around the world. For a more relevant local forecast, confirm that the selected place is the one you want to follow.
